Ijait Aluku

Mr. Ijait Aluku serves as the Program Officer – Land and Housing at the Economic and Social Rights Center (ESRC-Hakijamii). He’s a versatile legal practitioner with a neck for solving complex problems as well as attention to detail. Also derives unique satisfaction in successful completion of projects and tasks assigned by superiors.

Ijait is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and is a registered member of the Law Society of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree from University of Nairobi. He has expertise in legal research, litigation, legal writing, legal compliance, client and community relations.

Key Responsibility

Includes: leading policy advocacy and strategic litigation on economic and social rights (ESCR) in Kenya, with a focus on land, housing, and public interest litigation. Responsibilities cover the identification and management of high-impact litigation cases, legal, policy research, development of strategic litigation frameworks, drafting legal briefs, policy publications, and advocacy tools that advance rights-based approaches, engaging with civil society, legal practitioners, government institutions, and community networks to influence policy and legal reforms. Ijait also facilitates trainings and stakeholder dialogues, contributing to program design, resource mobilization, and overseeing monitoring and evaluation processes to assess program outcomes and impact.
